Colonels Off to Perfect 2-0 Start in Atlantic Sun Conference Play

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will take its undefeated start in Atlantic Sun Conference play on the road this week, traveling to North Alabama on Thursday and Central Arkansas on Saturday.

Thursday's matchup against North Alabama is set for a 7 p.m. ET tip inside CB&S Bank Arena, while Saturday's contest at Central Arkansas will begin at 2 p.m at the Farris Center.

Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ and the Colonels All-Access page, with Wes Chandler providing the call.

EKU (11-4, 2-0 ASUN) enters its first conference road swing of the 2025-26 season riding momentum after opening league play with two decisive home victories. The Colonels began conference action with a 69-53 win over West Georgia before posting a 103-49 victory over Queens, the largest margin of victory over a conference opponent in program history.

Senior forward Joseana Vaz earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week honors after averaging 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two wins. Vaz narrowly missed back-to-back double-doubles before recording 17 points and 10 rebounds against Queens.

On the season, Vaz is averaging 13.1 points and a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per game. The Cape Verde native has scored in double figures 11 times this year and has posted two 20-point performances.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer leads EKU in scoring at 13.7 points per game and has connected on 32 3-pointers this season. Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe is averaging 9.4 points per game and reached the 1,000-point milestone for her collegiate career in the win over Queens.

Freshman guard Kenleigh Woods is coming off a career-high 18-point performance against Queens, knocking down a career-best four 3-pointers. Senior guard Althea Kara Angeles paces the Atlantic Sun Conference in total assists (63) while averaging 8.9 points per game.

Senior forward Ella Bradley returned to the starting lineup on Dec. 19 after missing time with an injury and has nearly posted a triple-double in three of her four games back.

As of Wednesday, Bradley ranks fifth nationally in NCAA Division I women's basketball in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.60), trailing only elite guards such as Texas' Rori Harmon, UConn's KK Arnold, and TCU's Maddie Scherr. Bradley is the second highest-ranked mid-major player nationally in the category.

As a team, EKU ranks among the nation's top 50 in several statistical categories, including 3-point percentage defense (24.8), field goal percentage defense (36.2), defensive rebounds per game (29.3), assists per game (16.5), made 3-pointers per game (8.8) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.17).
