THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Eastern Kentucky University's women's golf team beat rivals Austin Peay and Murray State on its way to a 12th place finish at the Texas Golf Throwdown on Tuesday.
The Colonels carded a 3-round total of 947, five shots better than 13th place Austin Peay and 19 strokes better than Murray State.
No. 40 ranked Iowa State (862) captured the team title by 39 shots over second-place Nebraska (901). Cincinnati (903) was third and Texas State (910) fourth.
The 14 teams competed on the par-72, 6,311-yard course at The Woodlands Country Club.
Imogen Jessen led EKU and tied for 38th overall in the field of 81 players with a total of 235.
Lanie Campbell (237) tied for 44th. The senior rebounded from a first round 85 to shoot rounds of 75 and 77.
Karra Tucker (238) tied for 50th and
Maddi-Jo Benton (242) tied for 59th.
Mary Keene Marrs (250) tied for 70th.
EKU will be back in action Monday and Tuesday at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
