First-Place EKU Women’s Basketball Welcomes Rival Austin Peay on Saturday

Colonels Riding 13-Game Winning Streak, Unbeaten in ASUN Play

RICHMOND, Ky. – Riding a 13-game winning streak and a perfect 11-0 start to Atlantic Sun Conference play, the first-place Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team welcomes longtime rival Austin Peay State University on Saturday afternoon at Baptist Health Arena.

Saturday's tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and will be EKU's National Women and Girls in Sports Day and Alumni Day celebration. Tickets are available for as low as $5 at the door or online here.

For those unable to attend, the game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can also be heard on Colonel All-Access and @EKUWBB's X page.

EKU enters the weekend 20-4 overall and 11-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play, holding a 3.5-game lead in the league standings with seven games remaining in the regular season.

The Colonels are coming off a 61-55 road win at Lipscomb on Wednesday, securing their ninth road victory of the season. The win marked EKU's 20th of the year and clinched three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in program history.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer leads EKU, averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while pacing the team with 56 made 3-pointers. The Union, Kentucky, native has scored in double figures in 21 games this season and posted double-digit rebounding efforts in each of her last two outings.

Three additional Colonels are averaging double figures in scoring. Senior forward Joseana Vaz contributes 12.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe adds 11.9 points per contest, primarily off the bench, and has scored in double figures in 13 straight games. She ranks second in the ASUN in scoring since the start of conference play.

Freshman guard Kenleigh Woods averages 11.0 points per game and is a three-time ASUN Freshman of the Week selection this season. The Eastern Kentucky native has reached double figures in five of her last six games, including two 20-point performances.

As a team, EKU leads the ASUN in scoring at 75.4 points per game and ranks fourth in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 59.8 points per contest. The Colonels also lead the conference in field-goal percentage, rebounding, free throws made, assists and 3-pointers made.

Nationally, EKU checks in at No. 109 in the NCAA NET rankings as of Friday. The Colonels are also receiving 32 votes in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll and are one of just four mid-major programs nationally with 20 or more wins.

With a win Saturday, EKU would maintain its 3.5-game lead in the ASUN standings with six games remaining. The Colonels would also extend their overall winning streak to 14 games, the second longest in program history, and their conference winning streak to 12 games, tying the longest run in program history.

Scouting Austin Peay
Austin Peay enters Saturday 13-8 overall and 5-6 in ASUN play, having dropped three straight games since Jan. 29. Despite the skid, the Governors own a 10-1 record in true road games under fifth-year head coach Brittany Young.

Sophomore guard Anovia Sheals leads APSU, averaging 13.4 points per game. The Florida native scored a season-high 23 points earlier this season in a win over Stetson.

Series History
One of the most-played series in program history, EKU and Austin Peay meet for the 93rd time Saturday. The Colonels lead the all-time series 50-42, including a 27-14 advantage in games played in Richmond.
