RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team has signed 5-foot-6 point guard
Elyse Autrey out of the transfer portal, head coach
Greg Todd announced Thursday.
Autrey joins the Colonels as a junior after spending the last two seasons at Division II Augusta University, where she appeared in 60 games with 38 starts and averaged 7.7 points and 2.5 assists per game.
"We're extremely excited to add Elyse to our roster for next season," said assistant coach and recruiting coordinator
Chad Gibney. "She is a very high IQ player that fits our team-first culture. Elyse is very explosive, quick to the basket and does a tremendous job involving her teammates. We're excited for her future here."
Last season, Autrey started 30 of Augusta's 31 games and averaged career highs of 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest while shooting 37.1 percent from the field.
The Fairfax, Virginia, native scored in double figures 12 times and posted five 20-point performances. She ranked third on the team in scoring and second in minutes played while helping lead Augusta to a 21-10 overall record, a Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Autrey matched her career high with 24 points twice during the season. She scored 24 points while playing all 40 minutes against Catawba College on Nov. 25, 2025, going 11-for-13 from the free throw line. Later in the season, she added another 24-point performance at North Georgia on Jan. 21, 2026, shooting 9-for-14 from the field.
During Augusta's run to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament title, Autrey totaled 34 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists and three steals across three tournament games. She later recorded nine points and four assists against Lenoir-Rhyne in the NCAA Southeast Regional on March 13, 2026.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Autrey played in 29 games with eight starts and averaged 6.0 points per game. She finished second on the team with a 34.1 percent mark from 3-point range while helping Augusta to a 20-9 overall record.
Prior to Augusta, Autrey attended Virginia Academy in Ashburn, Virginia, where she was a four-time state champion and all-state selection. She averaged more than 12 points and five rebunds per game during her prep career.
EKU captured the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championship, the 11th conference championship in school history, and has posted three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time as a program. Todd was named 2026 ASUN Coach of the Year and four Colonels earned all-conference honors, including two first team selections.
Autrey is scheduled to report to campus this summer and will begin offseason workouts.
