RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team has signed 5-foot-9 guard
Rylee Kalocay out of the transfer portal, head coach
Greg Todd announced Wednesday morning.
Kalocay, who played in 19 games as a freshman last season at Kent State University, is EKU's third portal addition this offseason and brings the Colonels' 2026-27 roster to 10 players.
"Any time a player can come out of the Mid-American Conference and produce efficiently, it says a lot," Todd said. "Rylee has shown she can shoot the ball at a high level from three and manage the game with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. We believe those strengths fit our program perfectly and we can't wait to get her on campus this summer as we look to repeat a conference title."
As a freshman at Kent State in 2025-26, Kalocay averaged 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The Pittsburgh native made six starts on the season against Duquesne, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Davis & Elkins, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
Kalocay also scored in double figures six times, including a season-high 16 points against Davis & Elkins on Dec. 15 when she went 6-for-10 from the field with six assists and four steals. She also reached double figures against Xavier, Niagara, Duquesne, Tulsa and Massachusetts.
On the season, she shot 40.6 percent (28-for-69) from the field, 34.2 percent (13-for-38) from 3-point range and 81.1 percent (30-for-37) from the free-throw line. Kalocay recorded five games with five or more rebounds and had multiple steals in six contests.
In her prep days, Kalocay starred at Upper St. Clair High School where she finished second in school history with 1,759 career points and was a two-time all-state selection. She led her team to the WPIAL 6A state championship as a senior in 2025, the team's first state title in 17 years.
As a senior, she led all WPIAL 6A scorers and ranked top three in the state averaging 23.9 points per game. Kalocay earned First Team All-State, First Team All-WPIAL and was named 6A Player of the Year by the Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Union Progress, KDKA and several others. She was also named the 6A state championship most valuable player and was a finalist for 2025 Miss Pennsylvania Basketball.
Kalocay became the first female athlete in WPIAL history to sign an NIL agreement with Vizion Media and was the youngest player in Upper St. Clair history to reach 1,000 career points. She was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fab 5 as a sophomore, becoming just the 11th sophomore to earn the distinction in the publication's 80-year history.
She chose Kent State over Army West Point, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Colgate, Duquesne, Fairleigh Dickinson, La Salle, Lafayette, Quinnipiac, St. Bonaventure and Western Michigan coming out of high school.
EKU captured the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championship, the 11th conference championship in school history, and has posted three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time as a program. Todd was named 2026 ASUN Coach of the Year and four Colonels earned all-conference honors, including two first team selections.
Kalocay is scheduled to report to campus this summer and will begin offseason workouts.
