RICHMOND, Ky. – Following a standout collegiate playing career at the University of Iowa and Central Michigan University, Molly Davis has joined the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball program as an assistant coach, head coach
Greg Todd announced Thursday morning.
Davis arrives in Richmond after spending the past two seasons at the University of Evansville, where she served as a graduate assistant and assistant coach.
Last season, Davis helped guide the Purple Aces to a runner-up finish in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Evansville defeated Illinois-Chicago, Belmont and Illinois State during its postseason run before advancing to the tournament championship game.
"Molly has been part of championship-level culture throughout her career. Playing in two national championship games alongside Caitlin Clark gave her experience very few young coaches can bring to a program," said Todd. "She understands the elite preparation, player development, toughness and commitment it takes to compete for championships."
Before beginning her coaching career, Davis played point guard for two seasons at Iowa from 2022-24 and helped lead the Hawkeyes to consecutive NCAA National Championship appearances under former head coach Lisa Bluder.
During her time in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes compiled a 65-12 overall record while Davis averaged 5.9 points per game, 3.0 assists per game and shot a high 54 percent from the field. She appeared in 69 games and made 29 starts during her two-year stint with the program.
As a senior in 2023-24, Davis was second on the team with 93 total assists, trailing only former teammate Caitlin Clark, who was a two-time National Player of the Year and No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She started 27 games and reached double figures in scoring eight times during the season.
"What impressed me most is that Molly has seen the game from multiple perspectives, a championship player, a leader in one of the nation's premier programs, and now an assistant coach helping guide a team to postseason success," said Todd. "That combination gives her a bright future in this profession, and we are excited she will continue that journey here at Eastern Kentucky University."
Prior to Iowa, Davis starred at Central Michigan for three seasons from 2019-22, where she established herself as one of the top players in program history. She earned All-MAC honors three times and averaged 20.8 points per game as a sophomore, 18.6 points as a junior and 14.3 points as a freshman.
In her five-year collegiate career, Davis averaged 11.8 points per game and amassed 1,765 points, 502 assists, 473 rebounds, 226 made 3-pointers and 161 steals. She had a career shooting average of 46.5 percent and player efficiency rating of 19.7, which is 4.7 points higher than the NCAA Division I women's average.
A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Davis prepped at H.H. Dow High School in Midland, Michigan, where she scored 832 career points and earned all-state recognition.
Davis graduated from Iowa in 2024 with a degree in health studies. She posted a 3.95 grade-point average and earned dean's list honors each semester.
