RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team announced Tuesday its first game of the 2026-27 season, as the Colonels will face Louisville for the second straight season at the KFC Yum! Center on December 6, 2026.

Tipoff time, ticket information and television details will be announced at a later date.

Last season, EKU faced the nationally ranked Cardinals and led 19-14 after the first quarter before trailing by just three points at halftime.

The Colonels held No. 16 Louisville to its lowest 3-point field-goal percentage of the season at 13.6 percent and its seventh-lowest field-goal percentage at 40.3 percent. Louisville went on to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Louisville finished last season with a 29-8 record under longtime head coach Jeff Walz, who will enter his 20th season with the program in 2026-27. The Cardinals went 15-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play and advanced to the ACC Tournament championship game before falling to top-seeded Duke in overtime.

EKU is coming off one of the best seasons in school history, finishing with a 25-9 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference play in 2025-26. The Colonels captured the 2026 ASUN Regular Season Championship, marking the 11th conference championship as a program.

EKU would go on to the Women's National Invitational Tournament and upset No. 1 seed Utah at home, 72-58, in the opening round. Entering his sixth season with the Colonels, head coach Greg Todd was named 2026 ASUN Coach of the Year while four Colonels earned all-conference honors.

Beginning July 1, 2026, EKU will transition from the ASUN Conference to the United Athletic Conference, joining Abilene Christian, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Little Rock, Tarleton State, UT Arlington and West Georgia.

The December matchup between EKU and Louisville will feature five Kentuckians between the two rosters. Fans can view EKU's roster for next season online here.
