RICHMOND, Ky.
– Sophomore left-hander Paul Duncan pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run on four hits, to lead the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team past Buffalo, 13-2, Saturday afternoon in the third game of the Logan’s Roadhouse Leadoff Tournament

A two-run single by freshman Richie Rodriguez in the second inning put the Colonels on the board. With Duncan baffling the Bulls from the mound, EKU added four more in the fourth to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Colonel lead continued to mount in the fifth as EKU pounded out six hits – including back-to-back doubles by sophomore Jayson Langfels and junior Anthony Ottrando with men in scoring position – and plated seven runs to earn an 11-0 advantage. The game was called after the seventh inning.

Duncan (1-0) allowed just one hit through the first five innings and kept the Bulls off balance all day. In doing so, the southpaw earned his first win as a Colonel and lowered his season ERA to 2.35.

Buffalo sophomore Jesse Reinstein (0-1) picked up the loss, working 3.2 innings and allowing six runs on six hits.

Offensively, the Colonels were led by a host of players. Senior Matt Davis went 3-for-5 on the day with two RBI and a pair of runs scored. Junior Joey Stevens batted a perfect 3-for-3 and also recorded three runs scored. Rodriguez went just 1-for-3 on the day but drove in four runs and scored another.

Sophomore Kevin McCall went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Buffalo.

The Colonels return to action tomorrow when they host Buffalo at 10:00 a.m. and IPFW at 2:00 p.m. in the finale of the Logan’s Roadhouse Leadoff Tournament.
