RICHMOND, Ky. – Exciting renovations have continued this offseason at Turkey Hughes Field, the home of Eastern Kentucky University baseball. Nearly $100,000 worth of improvements have gone into extending a brick wall to enclose a beautiful, newly graded and sodded outfield.
Last year under head coach
Jason Stein, a state-of-the-art synthetic turf was installed on the infield while a modern brick backstop with netting was built behind home plate. That backstop has been extended around an outfield that will now match the year-round vibrancy and color of the infield.
The renovations have revolutionized the way the EKU baseball program is able to develop its players. A synthetic turf infield and sod outfield makes it easier to practice in spite of bad weather, and far fewer games will be cancelled due to the improvements.
