EKU Baseball Travels To Arkansas For 3-Game ASUN Series

CONWAY, Ark. – The baseball Colonels will travel to Arkansas for a 3-game Atlantic Sun Conference series against Central Arkansas starting on Friday.
 
The series opener is set for 7 p.m. ET.  Game two on Saturday will begin at 5 p.m. ET.  The finale on Sunday will start at 2 p.m. ET.  All three games will air live on ESPN+.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU moved to 10-27 after earning a non-conference win over Kentucky State on Tuesday.  The Colonels are 4-11 in ASUN games.
 
-  Khaleel Pratt (30) is second and Kobe Benson (28) is fourth in the ASUN in walks.  Benson ranks second in the conference with a .484 on-base percentage.  Pratt is ninth with a .470 on-base percentage.
 
-  Owen Barger and Ryan Johnson hit their first career home runs in the victory over Kentucky State.
 
-  Over the last eight games, Benson is hitting .500 with a .654 on-base percentage.
 
-  Bradley Gagen and Jacob Price have consistently started the first two games of weekend series this season.  Gagen, a left-hander, is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA.  Price, a right-hander, is 3-2 with a 5.03 ERA.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Central Arkansas is 19-18 overall and 7-8 in conference games.  The Bears won a series on the road against Lipscomb last weekend and beat Oral Roberts in a midweek game on Tuesday.
 
-  Shortstop Nate Negre has a team-best .341 batting average.  Outfielder Zeb Allen leads the team in home runs (12), RBIs (31), stolen bases (12) and runs scored (37) while hitting .288.
 
-  Hunter Alexander leads the team with seven saves.  The senior right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA in 16 appearances out of the bullpen.
 
-  Patrick Fernandez, a junior right-hander, has made a team-high eight starts on the mound.  He is 1-4 with a 6.94 ERA.  Denver Hamilton, a junior righty, has started seven games and is 5-0 with a 3.29 ERA.  Redshirt freshman right-hander Caide White has also started seven times and is 0-2 with a 7.96 ERA.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Central Arkansas holds an 11-10 edge in the all-time series.  EKU won two of three in Richmond earlier this season, but is 5-7 in games played in Conway.
 
-  EKU picked up a series win by beating Central Arkansas 6-5 in the most recent meeting, on March 15.  Four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning erased a 3-run deficit for the Colonels.  Pedro Moreno went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs for EKU.  Parker Gwyn was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for UCA.
