When Eastern and Southeast met earlier this season, EKU lost 74-58 in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks led wire-to-wire. Coles led Eastern with 13 points. Jones and Carpenter each finished with 11 points.
Nadia Mossong posted her second straight double-double, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Norman scored a game-beset 15 points for Southeast Missouri.
Southeast enters Thursday’s game with a 7-15 record. The Redhawks are 3-9 in the OVC. Since beating EKU on Jan. 15, SEMO is just 1-4 and has lost three straight.
Southeast does well defensively, but struggles on the offensive end. The Redhawks are second in the OVC in points allowed (64.3 ppg) and third in defensive field goal percentage (38.6 percent). SEMO has held nine opponents to less than 60 points.
The team is 10th among 10 teams in scoring (52.8 ppg) and 10th in field goal percentage (35.2 percent). The Redhawks are also 10th in rebounding margin (-7.7). SEMO has been held to less than 60 points in 16 of its 22 games. However, the team’s 74 points against Eastern Kentucky is the second most they have scored in a game this season.
Norman, a 5-foot-9 guard, leads the team in scoring (9.7 ppg) and is second on the team in rebounding (4.2 rpg). Brittany Harriel, a 6-foot-1 sophomore forward, is the team’s top rebounder (6.4 rpg) and second in scoring (8.6 ppg).
