COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State, ranked No. 58 in the latest national ITA poll, cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team Tuesday evening.
The closest matches came at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Sophomore
Amandine Faouzi, the Colonels’ top player, forced a tie-breaker in the opening set against OSU’s Kara Cecil, but still fell in two sets. Meanwhile, sophomore
Melissa Gerritsen won the first set at No. 3 singles, only to see Ohio State’s Gabby Steele rally and win in a deciding super tie-breaker, 10-7.
Eastern will play its second road match of the season this Saturday, Feb. 2 at Miami (Ohio). Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
