EKU Rolls to 7-0 Win in Women's Tennis

Sophomore Amandine Faouzi
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s team wrapped up its home schedule with a convincing 7-0 victory over UT Martin Sunday afternoon. EKU is now 8-0 in league action.

“We are certainly peaking at the right time of the year,” Eastern Kentucky head coach Rob Oertel said. “We made one more step towards to our regular season goal and that is to get the No. 1 seed for the OVC tournament.”

This was a rematch of last year’s OVC tournament championship match. The Colonels (15-6, 8-0 OVC) have now won 20 consecutive regular season conference matches dating back to 2011.

Sophomore Amandine Faouzi, EKU’s No. 1 player, is riding a nine-match winning streak following her 6-2, 6-2 win over UT Martin’s Ivon Simic.

The Colonels conclude their regular season schedule next weekend at league foes Eastern Illinois (April 13) and SIUE (April 14).
