Indoor Track and Field Opens Season at Kentucky Invitational this Weekend

Meet Schedule (Tentative)

RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team will open the indoor season at the Kentucky Invitational this weekend inside Nutter Fieldhouse.

Events will get underway on Friday with the weight throw at 4:00 p.m. The distance medley relays are the only other events to take place on Friday.

A majority of the action will take place on Saturday, beginning with the high jump at 9:00 a.m. and ending with the mile relays at 4:00 p.m.

Fresh off a men's and women's sweep of the Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships this fall, EKU will look to excel at distance events this weekend. Cross Country standouts Amos Kosgey, Luka Ndungu, Ronald Korir, Ann Eason and Ashley Svec are all expected to compete at the meet.

Two of EKU's Ohio Valley Conference Indoor champions from last season – Ole Hesslebjerg and Julie Mathisen – will not run this weekend.

Following this weekend's meet, the Colonels return to action the weekend of January 23-24 at the Indiana Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
