RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team wasn't able to hold off visiting Dayton Friday afternoon as the Flyers battled back for a 4-3 win in the Greg Adams Indoor Tennis Center.
Junior
Alex Álvaro carried the Colonels (0-2) at the top of the line-up. Álvaro teamed up with senior
Juanjo de la Llera to win the No. 1 doubles match, 6-1. In singles, Alvaro rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Bernardo Sanson.
Senior
Daridge Saidi tallied EKU's other singles point as he won a straight-set match over Aidan Koross.
Dayton (2-2) trailed in the team score, 3-2, before the Flyers' Zach Berry (No. 5) and Simon Jayaram (No. 6) won the final two matches on the court. Jayaram won the deciding match in three sets over sophomore
Diego Asis.
Eastern Kentucky's next match is on the road at Xavier next Friday, Jan. 30.
