CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The EKU men's tennis team picked up its seventh straight win and fourth shutout in its last five matches on Saturday with a 7-0 win over UT Chattanooga in the first outdoor match of the season.
In the singles portion
Guillem Sanchis and
Florian Graskamp topped their opponents, setting the tempo for EKU. Shortly after,
Diogo Soares, Alex Álvaro,
Ramon van Flymen and
Sebastian Mueller sealed their matches to complete the Colonels' sweep over UTC.
During doubles play, Álvaro, van Flymen,
Diego Asis and Mueller won their matches with scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
"Our guys did a great job finding ways to win today," Head Coach
Rob Oertel said. "The first outdoor match is always a challenge. I told the guys we will not use the outdoor adjustment as an excuse this weekend."
The Colonels travel to Samford on Sunday to take on the Bulldogs. Sunday's match is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
