NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The EKU men's and women's tennis teams will head to Nashville for weekend Ohio Valley Conference matches at Belmont University and Tennessee State University.
The Colonels open the weekend at Belmont on Friday. The women are set to begin at 11 a.m. with the men scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start time. On Saturday the teams will travel to nearby Tennessee State University as the men are slated for an 11 a.m. start with the women's match set for 12 p.m.
The men's team will also face off against Lipscomb in a non-conference dual match on Saturday that is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Both teams moved to 2-0 in OVC play, picking up wins over Austin Peay and Murray State University last weekend in Richmond.
The women's team enters this weekend with a 7-8 record on the season. The Colonels will look to carry momentum from Saturday's, 7-0, win over Murray that ended a four-match losing skid to the Racers.
Freshman
Margaux Lacroix's singles victory clinched EKU's win over Austin Peay on Friday. Lacroix added a 6-1, 6-3 win over Murray State's Erin Patton to move to 2-0 in conference play.
The men's team rolled to 7-0 wins over Austin Peay and Murray State last weekend in pursuit of its OVC title defense.
Senior
Alex Álvaro and sophomore
Ramon van Flymen enter the weekend as the 57th ranked doubles team in the nation.
Diogo Soares totes a five-match win streak into the weekend in singles play. The junior posted a 2-0 mark last weekend in doubles play, along with freshman
Indra Patwardhan.
