MARTIN, Tenn. – The Skyhawks were able to fend off the EKU women's tennis team to hold on to a 4-3 win in Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference dual match at the Skyhawk Tennis Complex.
 
"I'm really proud of the girls," Head Coach Rob Oertel said. "They competed and gave it their all. Today was a great match in a very exciting atmosphere."
 
UT Martin jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the Skyhawks took two doubles matches to claim the point.
 
Sophomore Laura Argente's win at No. 1 singles evened the match at one apiece, but the Skyhawks won the next two singles points, extending their lead to 3-1.
 
Freshman Corentine Bodin posted a two-set win at the No. 3 spot to close the Skyhawk lead to one. However, UT Martin was able to outlast the Colonels for the win.
 
Saturday's loss marked the first loss in conference play for the Colonels. EKU concludes OVC play next week with two home matches.
 
The Colonels host Eastern Illinois University on Friday and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Saturday to close out the regular season.
