Baseball Opens OVC Play at Belmont this Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn.
–The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team opens up conference play on the road when the Colonels take on Belmont this weekend at E.S. Rose Park.
 
First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET. Saturday's game will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET, followed by a 2:00 p.m. ET finale on Sunday.
 
The Colonels (5-8, 0-0 OVC) are coming off a pair of mid-week losses to the University of Kentucky and East Tennessee State University. The Bruins (3-9, 0-0 OVC) are coming off a mid-week loss to Western Kentucky University.
 
EKU's offense is led by Ryland Kerr and Daniel Harris IV. Kerr is batting a team-high .373, with four doubles, one triple, and seven RBIs. Harris IV is hitting at a .333 clip to go along with one triple, one home run, and seven RBIs.  
 
Belmont's offense is led by Matt Cogen and Chas Hadden. Cogen is hitting a team-high .400 with four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 13 RBIs. Hadden has a .350 batting-average, with three doubles, and nine RBIs.  
 
The Colonels will send Aaron Ochsenbein to the mound on Friday. He is 1-0 on the year with a 4.15 ERA with 14 strikeouts over 13 innings pitched. Belmont is sending senior right-hander Tyler Vaughn (0-1) to the mound.
 
On Saturday, the Colonels will send Austin Perry to the mound. He is 1-1 on the year with 3.55 ERA while striking out 15 batters over 12 and two-thirds innings. The Bruins will send Conner Etheridge to the mound. He is 2-1 on the year with 13 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched.
 
Junior Logan Teague will take the mound for the Colonels on Sunday. He is 1-1 on the year with a 6.32 ERA while striking out 11 batters over 15 and two-thirds innings pitched. Belmont will counter with junior right-hander Casey Queener, who is 1-1 on the year with 2.81 ERA. He has struck out 18 batters over 16 innings pitched.
 
Eastern Kentucky stays on the road next week, as the Colonels face Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET and Vanderbilt University in Nashville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
