RICHMOND, Ky. –
The baseball team will take its seven-game Ohio Valley Conference winning streak on the road this weekend for a three-game series at Austin Peay.

Because of poor weather conditions expected on Saturday, a doubleheader is scheduled for Friday, with first pitch at 3 p.m. ET.  Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the end of game one.  If the unfavorable weather conditions materialize as expected, game three of the series will be Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

The Colonels' (16-18, 8-4 OVC) current conference winning streak started with a home field win over Morehead State on March 25 to win that three-game series.  Since then EKU has swept a series at Tennessee-Martin and swept three from Southern Illinois Edwardsville at home.

The streak matches the longest conference winning streak for an EKU team since the 1990 Colonels won 15 in a row.  Eastern Kentucky also had seven-game OVC winning streaks in 1999, 2000, 2005 and 2012.  The last time Eastern swept back-to-back three-game series against conference teams was in 2005.

Austin Peay is 19-15 overall and 9-6 against OVC teams.  The Governors have won two of three against each of their past two league opponents, including last weekend at Belmont.

A big part of the success has been the play of junior catcher Alex Holderbach.  In his last 10 games, Holderbach is hitting .405 with nine walks, six doubles, four home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.  During that time he has a .892 slugging percentage and a .521 on-base percentage.

As a team, EKU leads the OVC and is 23rd in the nation with 53 stolen bases.  Eastern is second in the OVC and 15th in the country in runs scored (237).

Cornell Nixon is 19th in the nation with 1.19 runs scored per game and 14th with 0.63 stolen bases per game.  Ryland Kerr is 13th in the nation with 14 doubles.  Holderbach ranks 13th in NCAA Division I baseball with 40 RBIs.

Game one on Friday will feature Eastern right-hander Logan Teague on the mound against Austin Peay lefty Michael Costanzo.  Teague is 3-3 with a 4.93 ERA.  Teague is coming off his second quality start over his last three appearances.  He tossed six innings, allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out four against SIU Edwardsville.  Costanzo is 5-1 and sports a 3.78 ERA.  He has 60 strike outs in 47 and two-thirds innings of work.

Game two on Friday will see junior right-hander Kaven Brown toe the rubber for EKU.  He is 2-2 with a 5.46 ERA.  Left-hander Jacques Pucheu will start for the Governors.  He is 4-1 with a 3.91 ERA.

Neither team has announced their starters for game three.
