EKU Baseball Hits The Road To Dayton

Dayton, Ohio –
The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team hits the road when the Colonels travel north take on the University of Dayton on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.  
 
The Colonels (17-20, 9-6 OVC) are coming off a weekend series against Austin Peay. EKU would take one of the three against the Govs. The Flyers (8-22, 2-7 Atlantic 10) are coming off a weekend series against Saint Louis where they were swept.
 
EKU's offense is led by Alex Holderbach and Ryland Kerr. Holderbach is batting a team-high .355, with 10 doubles, one triple, and a team-high nine home runs to go with 47 RBIs. Kerr is hitting at a .348 clip to go along with a team-high 16 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 21 RBIs.
 
Holderbach ranks second in the nation in RBIs.
 
Dayton's offense is led by Pat Meehan and Takahiro Yamada. Meehan is hitting at a .303 clip with 11 doubles, six home runs, and 23 RBIs. Yamada has a .293 batting-average with one triple, three home runs, and 11 RBIs.  
 
Redshirt freshman Darren Williams will get the nod for the Colonels. He is 0-1 on the year with a 6.00 ERA, while striking out 19 batters over 24 innings pitched. He will be making his fourth start as a Colonel. He will face off against sophomore right-hander Jordan Cox. Cox is 2-1 on the year with a 7.89 ERA. He has 22 strikeouts over 21 and two-third innings pitched.
 
Eastern Kentucky returns home this weekend to welcome Eastern Illinois to Earle Combs Stadium for a three-game series starting Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
