Baseball Welcomes Eastern Illinois To Earle Combs Stadium For 3-Game Conference Series

The baseball program will hold the third annual Clint Seymour Memorial Alumni Golf Outing on April 21, 2018 at Boone Trace National Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky.  All fans, alumni and supporters are welcome to attend.

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The baseball team welcomes conference foe Eastern Illinois to Earle Combs Stadium Friday for the start of a three-game series.

Amazon gift vouchers and Coca-Cola tumblers will be given away at the game on Friday.  
 
The Colonels (18-20, 9-6 OVC) are coming off a mid-week win at the University of Dayton, 11-6. The Panthers (13-22, 4-11 OVC) are coming off a mid-week win against Illinois State, 17-13.
 
EKU's offense is led by Alex Holderbach, Ryland Kerr, and Tyler Romanik. Holderbach is batting a team-high .359, with 10 doubles, one triple, and a team-high nine home runs with 50 RBIs. Holderbach leads the conference and ranks third in the NCAA in runs driven in. Kerr is hitting at a .350 clip to go along with 16 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 22 RBIs. Romanik is hitting .324 with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 21 RBIs.
 
The Panthers offense is led by Ryan Knernschield and Josh Turnock. Knernschield is hitting at a .329 clip with three doubles, one home run, and eight RBIs. Turnock has a .328 batting-average, three doubles, one home run, and eight RBIs.  
 
Logan Teague will get the nod in game ones against EIU. Teague brings a 3-4 record with a 6.00 ERA into the contest. He has struck out 33 batters over 45 innings pitched. He will square off against EIU's Tyler Jones. Jones is 4-2 on the year with a 2.21 ERA while striking out 26 batters over 36 and two-third innings pitched.
 
Jack Piekos will make his first start of the year when he takes the mound in game two. Piekos is 1-2 on the year and has struck 20 batters over 21 and two-third innings pitched. He will face off against right-hander Alex Stevenson. Stevenson is 2-5 on the year with a 5.95 ERA.
 
Austin Perry will go in game three for the Colonels. Perry is 4-1 on the year with 3.22 ERA. He has struck out 29 batters over 36 and one-third innings pitched on the year. Perry will go for his third quality start on the year. The Eastern Illinois pitcher is not determined yet for Sunday's contest.
 
Eastern Kentucky hits the road after this weekend series when they travel north to take on Xavier University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
