EKU Baseball Hits The Road To Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio –
The baseball team hits the road when the Colonels travel north to take on the Xavier University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.  
 
The Colonels (21-20, 12-6 OVC) are coming off a weekend sweep of conference foe Eastern Illinois. The Musketeers (13-26, 2-7 Big East) are coming off a weekend series against Creighton, where they took one-of-three against the BlueJays. Xavier takes on Northern Kentucky University on Tuesday night.
 
EKU's offense is led by Alex Holderbach and Ryland Kerr. Holderbach is batting a team-high .359, with 10 doubles, two triples, and a team-high nine home runs and 53 RBIs. He is ranked second in the conference and fourth in the nation in runs driven in. Kerr is hitting at a .347 clip to go along with a team-high 17 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 26 RBIs.
 
Kerr was just put on the 2018 Brooks Wallace Award Watch list. This award honors the nation's top shortstop.
 
Xavier's offense is led by Conor Grammes and Chris Givin. Grammes is hitting at a .325 clip with six doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 16 RBIs. Givin has a .315 batting-average with seven doubles, four triples, two home runs, and 27 RBIs.  
 
Kaven Brown will get the nod for the Colonels. The junior right-hander will bring a 2-2 record into the contest, while striking out 27 batters over 34 and two-third innings pitched. It will be Brown's ninth start of the year. Xavier has not named a starter for the contest.
 
Eastern Kentucky remains on the road this weekend when the Colonels travel to Oxford, Alabama to take on Jacksonville State for a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.
