Schedule Changed For Baseball Series This Weekend As SIUE Visits Earle Combs Stadium

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The EKU baseball team welcomes conference foe Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to Earle Combs Stadium Friday for the start of a three-game series.  
 
Because of poor weather conditions expected on Saturday, a doubleheader is scheduled for Friday, with first pitch at 1 p.m. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. If the unfavorable weather conditions materialize as expected, game three of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
The Colonels (12-17, 5-4 OVC) are coming off a mid-week loss to Xavier University at home. The Cougers (7-19, 3-9 OVC) are coming off a mid-week loss to the University of Missouri.
 
EKU's offense is led by Alex Holderbach, Ryland Kerr, and Nick Howie. Holderbach is batting a team-high .317, with four doubles, one triple, and a team-high six home runs with 31 RBIs. Kerr is hitting at a .308 clip to go along with 11 doubles, two triples, and 11 RBIs. Howie is hitting .274 with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 23 RBIs. Howie was named OVC Player of the Week on Monday.
 
The Cougars offense is led by Jordan Ross and Steven Pattan. Ross is hitting at a .281 clip with two doubles, nine RBIs, and 27 hits. Pattan has a .271 batting-average, with 13 hits, and three RBIs.  
 
In game one Friday Logan Teague will toe the rubber. He is 2-3 on the year with a 5.50 ERA, while striking out 26 batters over 36 innings pitched. He will go against junior left-hander Ryan Byrd. Byrd is 0-4 on the year with a 5.77 ERA. He has 23 strikeouts over 34 and one-third innings pitched.
 
Kaven Brown will get the nod for game two on Friday. He is 2-2 on the year with a 5.00 ERA. He has struck out 22 batters over 27 innings pitched. Brown is coming off a quality start against Tennessee-Martin where he threw seven innings while striking out six and allowing three runs. He will go up against Brock Fulkerson for SIUE. Fulkerson is 1-1 on the year with a 7.11 ERA.
 
The starter for EKU is to be determined for game three of the series. The Cougars will go with Kenny Serwa who is 2-1 on the year with a 3.10 ERA. He has 31 strikeouts over 40 and two-thirds innings pitched and will be making his eighth start on the year.
 
Eastern Kentucky will continue their six-game home-stand when they welcome East Tennessee State to Earle Combs Stadium on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
