Eastern Kentucky Baseball Goes On The Road To Face No. 22 Tennessee Tech

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The baseball team hits the road this weekend to take on 22nd ranked Tennessee Tech University in a three-game series starting Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The Colonels (26-23, 15-9 OVC) are coming off a weekend series against in-state rival Murray State. EKU took one-of-three in the series. The Golden Eagles (41-6, 22-2 OVC) are coming off a mid-week win at Vanderbilt. They defeated the Commodores 6-4.
 
EKU's offense is led by Alex Holderbach and Tyler Romanik. Holderbach is batting a team-high .384, with 10 doubles, two triples, and a team-best 17 home runs and 70 RBIs. He leads the country in RBIs, while also leading the OVC in home runs and slugging percentage, which rank fifth and seventh nationally. Romanik is hitting at a .350 clip to go along with eight doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 33 RBIs.  
 
TTU's offense is led by Chase Chambers and Kevin Strohschein. Chambers is hitting a team-high .416 with 11 doubles, one triple, 12 home runs, and a team leading 63 RBIs. Strohschein has a .408 batting average with 12 doubles, three triples, a team-high 15 home runs, and 54 RBIs.  
 
The Colonel offense has been causing problems all year as they rank first in the conference and 10th in the nation in stolen bases, and ninth in the country and third in the conference in runs scored on the year. Eastern Kentucky ranks third in the conference and eighth nationally in hits. To go along with having the third best batting average in the conference, which ranks 19th in the country.
 
Logan Teague will get the nod for the Colonels in game one on Friday. He is 5-4 on the year with a 5.74 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 64 and one-thirds innings pitched. He will face off against senior right-hander Travis Moths. Moths is 10-1 on the year with a 4.26 ERA.
 
Jack Piekos will go for the Colonels in game two on Saturday. The southpaw is 2-3 on the year with a 5.63 ERA and he has struck out 42 batters over 38 and one-thirds innings pitched. He will go up against junior Marcus Evey. Evey is 6-0 on the year with a 4.07 ERA. He has stuck out 69 batters over 55 and one-thirds innings pitched.
 
EKU has not named a starter for Sunday's game yet. They will face off against left-hander Alex Hursey. Hursey is 7-3 on the year with a 4.08 ERA.
 
Eastern Kentucky returns home for a four-game home stand to finish off the regular season.  The Colonels welcome Western Carolina University to Earle Combs Stadium Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
