RICHMOND, Ky. – The baseball team wraps up the regular season when the Colonels welcome conference foe Southeast Missouri State University for a three-game series starting Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Eastern currently sits in a tie for fifth in the OVC standings but hold the tie-breaker over Jacksonville State University. SEMO currently sits in a tie for second place in the standings. Eastern Kentucky can finish anywhere from second the sixth in the conference.

EKU baseball's annual ALS awareness game is scheduled for Thursday. The Colonels will wear special wristbands during the game to raise awareness for the fight against ALS. Senior Day will be on Friday. Saturday's game is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day at the ballpark. All EKU faculty and staff will receive free admission. Â

The Colonels (27-26, 15-12 OVC) are coming off a mid-week, 10-5, win against Western Carolina. The Redhawks (23-28, 17-10 OVC) are coming off a mid-week, 8-5, loss at Georgia Tech.

EKU's offense is led by
Alex Holderbach and
Tyler Romanik. Holderbach is batting a team-high .365, with 10 doubles, two triples, and a team-best 18 home runs and 72 RBIs. He leads the country in RBIs, while also ranking first in the OVC in home runs and in slugging percentage. Romanik is hitting at a .353 clip to go along with 10 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 35 RBIs. Â

SEMO's offense is led by Trevor Ezell and Justin Dirden. Ezell is hitting a team-high .390 with 16 doubles, three triples, five home runs, and 48 RBIs. Dirden has a .356 batting average with 18 doubles, one triple, one triple, and a team-high 14 home runs with 63 RBIs. Â

The Colonel offense has been rolling this year as they rank first in the conference and 11th in the nation in stolen bases, and 10th in the country and third in the conference in runs scored on the year. Eastern Kentucky ranks third in the conference and seventh nationally in hits. To go along with having the third best batting average in the conference, which ranks 21st in the country.

Eastern Kentucky hits the road next week when they travel to Oxford, Alabama to start the OVC Tournament. The Colonels first game will be Wednesday with a time that is TBD.Â
