RICHMOND, Ky. – The baseball team returns home for a conference show down with in-state rival Murray State starting Friday.

The Colonels (25-21, 14-7 OVC) are coming off a mid-week, 12-9, road victory over Northern Kentucky University on Tuesday night. The Racers (20-24, 7-14 OVC) are coming off a mid-week win against Alabama A&M by a score of 13-5.

EKU's offense is led by
Alex Holderbach and
Ryland Kerr. Holderbach is batting a team-high .377, with 10 doubles, two triples, and a team-high 15 home runs and 65 RBIs. He leads the country in RBIs, while also leading the OVC in home runs and slugging percentage, which both rank eighth in the country. Kerr is hitting at a .338 clip to go along with a team-high 18 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 27 RBIs. He ranks third in the OVC and 12th nationally in doubles, along with fifth in the league and 17th in the country, in runs. Â

MSU's offense is led by Grant Wood and Davis Sims. Wood is hitting at a .366 clip with 12 doubles, one triple, three home runs, and 35 RBIs. Sims has a .350 batting-average with a team-high 24 doubles, one triple, four home runs, and a team-high 43 RBIs. Â

The Colonel offense has been causing problems all year as they rank first in the conference and 12th in the nation in stolen bases. They are eighth in the country and third in the conference in runs scored on the year. Eastern Kentucky ranks third in the conference and seventh nationally in hits. The team is fourth in the conference and 24th nationally in doubles to go along with having the third best batting average in the conference, which ranks 29th in the country.

Logan Teague will get the nod for the Colonels in game one on Friday. He is 5-4 on the year with 5.58 ERA and 43 strikeouts over 59 and two-thirds innings pitched. He will face off against sophomore Trevor McMurray. McMurray is 4-2 on the year with a 5.20 ERA.

Jack Piekos will go for the Colonels in game two on Saturday in the battle of the lefties. He is 2-3 on the year with 5.50 ERA, he has struck out 36 batters over 34 and one-thirds innings pitched. Piekos is coming off his second quality start of the year. Luke Brown will start for the Racers, he is 2-4 on the year with a 7.90 ERA.

Bryan Quillens will start Sunday for the Colonels. Quillens is 2-1 on the year with a 6.26 ERA. He will be making his third start of the season. A starter has not been named for the Racers for Sunday. Â

Eastern Kentucky returns to the field next Friday when the take on Tennessee Tech University on the road in a battle of the top two teams in the OVC. Â
