RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will play its home-opener on Friday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond. The entire weekend schedule has changed due to the expected arrival of heavy rain.
EKU and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will play a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
The two teams will play a single game on Saturday and Sunday at Wright State University's Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio. Both games are scheduled for 10 a.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- EKU leads the all-time series 3-1.
- The two teams met for a four-game series in Richmond in March 2016.

THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky (2-2) won two of its first three games to start a season for the first time since 2012.

Jacob Ferris has struck out eight batters and has not allowed a run in four and two-thirds innings.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Maryland Eastern Shore (1-3) began the season with one win in four games at Longwood.
- The Hawks were held to three runs or less in all four games to start the season. UMES won the season-opener 3-0 before losing the next three 4-2, 6-1 and 4-3.
- Payton Hoskins has a team-best .500 batting average. He's tied for the team lead with two RBIs and has scored once.
- Dwayne Marshall, a junior right-hander, pitched seven shutout innings and picked up the win in Eastern Shore's season-opener. He struck out seven, allowed just four hits and was chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week.
- Marcus Brown has a team-best six hits, two runs and a.462 average.
