RICHMOND, Ky. –
After starting the season 6-2, its best start since the 2004 season, Eastern Kentucky will put its four-game winning streak on the line Tuesday at Kentucky.
 
The game at Kentucky Proud Park is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and air live on the SEC Network Plus.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Kentucky leads the all-time series 42-20-1.
 
-  The Wildcats have won two in a row in the series.
 
-  The Colonels' last win in the series came on May 3, 2016.  EKU beat then 28th ranked Kentucky 5-4 in Lexington.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  At 6-2, Eastern Kentucky is off to its best start since the 2004 season.   
 
-  The Colonels have 35 stolen bases.  That is the most in the nation and 20 more than any other OVC team.
 
-  First baseman Will Johnson was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after hitting .412 with three home runs, eight RBIs and seven runs scored.     
 
-  Johnson leads the OVC in stolen bases (8), RBIs (12), walks (12), total bases (25) and is tied for first in home runs (4).
 
-  Nick Howie leads the OVC with 13 hits and a .481 batting average, and is second with a .611 on-base percentage.
 
-  Freshman right-hander Jacob Ferris is expected to start on the mound for EKU.  The Richmond, Kentucky native is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in seven and two-thirds innings this season.  He has allowed only two hits and three walks while striking out nine.  
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  The Wildcats are 3-3 this season.    
 
-  Kentucky began the season with three wins over OVC member Austin Peay, outscoring the Governors 31-10.
 
-  UK then suffered a three-game sweep at Texas Tech, allowing 36 runs in the three games combined.
 
-  Ryan Shinn leads the team with a .474 batting average and seven runs scored.  Jaren Shelby and T.J. Collett are tied for the team lead with eight RBIs each.
 
-  Redshirt junior right-hander Grant Macciocchi is expected to start for Kentucky.  In two appearances this season, he has a 0-0 record and a 5.40 ERA.  He has allowed one run on three hits in one and two-thirds innings.
