Baseball Hosts Boston College And Evansville, Change Made To Weekend Schedule

RICHMOND, Ky. – 
Eastern Kentucky will host Boston College and Evansville on Friday and Saturday.  The originally scheduled three-day event will be shortened to two days because of poor weather conditions on Sunday.
 
Evansville (3-4) will play Boston College (4-2) at 12 p.m. on Friday.  The Colonels (6-3) will face Boston College at 4 p.m. on Friday.  Saturday's action begins with Evansville and Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m.  BC and Evansville will play at 2 p.m.  The event concludes with Boston College and EKU at 6 p.m.
 
All five games will be played at Earle Combs Stadium.  Saturday's finale will begin earlier than 6 p.m. if the first two games wrap up earlier.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky and Boston College will be meeting for the first time.
 
-  Evansville leads the all-time series with EKU 12-9-1.
 
-  The Colonels and Purple Aces last played March 25-26, 2016 in Richmond.  Evansville won two of the three games.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky is 6-3 after suffering a 7-3 loss at Kentucky on Tuesday.   
 
-  The Colonels have 35 stolen bases.  That is the most in the nation and 20 more than any other OVC team.
 
-  First baseman Will Johnson was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after hitting .412 with three home runs, eight RBIs and seven runs scored.     
 
-  Johnson leads the OVC in stolen bases (8), RBIs (12), walks (14), total bases (25) and is tied for first in home runs (4).
 
-  Nick Howie leads the OVC with 14 hits and is second with a .467 batting average.
 
-  The trio of Logan Teague, Kaven Brown and Brennan Kelly will start on the mound for the Colonels.  Teague, a senior right-hander, is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA.  Brown, a senior right-hander, is 2-0 and sporting a 0.87 ERA.  He has allowed just four hits, one earned run and struck out 16 in 10 and one-third innings.  Kelly, a junior left-hander, is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA.  
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Boston College is second in the nation with 30 stolen bases in six games.   
 
-  The Eagles swept Jackson State and lost two of three at Bethune-Cookman to start the season.
 
-  Sal Frelick leads the team in hitting (.500), RBIs (9) and stolen bases (10).
 
-  Matt Gill, a junior right-hander, will start against EKU on Friday.  He is 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA, having allowed two earned runs in 12 and one-third innings.  Mason Pelio, a freshman right-hander, will start against Eastern on Saturday.  He is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA.
 
-  Evansville started the season with two losses in a three-game series at Mercer, lost at Vanderbilt and then won two of three at Little Rock.
 
-  Danny Borgstrom leads the team with a .370 average and eight RBIs.
 
-  Senior, right-hander Justin Hayden will start against the Colonels on Saturday.  He's 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA.
