RICHMOND, Ky. – The baseball team will begin Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend with a three game series at Morehead State.
The series opener on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. The second game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. The series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series 118-99-1.
- In last year's regular season series, the Colonels won two of three. The Eagles beat EKU twice in the 2018 OVC Tournament.
THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky is 11-5 after beating Kentucky State, 9-3, at home on Wednesday.
- Outfielder
Nick Howie hit three home runs against KSU. He finished 3-for-4 with three runs and eight RBIs.
- The Colonels have 51 stolen bases. That is third in the nation and 23 more than any other Ohio Valley Conference team.

Nick Howie is second in the OVC with a .434 batting average, second with a .565 on-base percentage, tied for third with 16 RBIs, tied for third with 23 hits, tied for third with five home runs and third with a .774 slugging percentage.

Will Johnson leads the conference in stolen bases (15) and walks (22).
- The trio of
Logan Teague,
Kaven Brown and
Brennan Kelly will start on the mound for the Colonels. Teague, a senior right-hander, is 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA. Brown, a senior right-hander, is 4-0 and sporting a 2.55 ERA. Kelly, a junior left-hander, is 2-1 with a 1.48 ERA.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Morehead State is 11-5 this season and 1-2 in OVC play. The Eagles split a two-game midweek series at West Virginia, winning 9-6 on Wednesday.
- Morehead State began conference play by losing two of three at Belmont last weekend. The Eagles were held to seven runs in three games.
- Hunter Fain has a team-high .500 batting average with five home runs, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Connor Pauly leads the team with 16 RBIs. Reid Leonard has a team-best 20 runs scored.
- On Friday, redshirt junior Dalton Stambaugh will start on the mound for Morehead State. The lefty is 2-1 this season with a 4.58 ERA. He has 26 strikeouts in 19 and two-thirds innings of work. Saturday's starter has not been named. Will Lozinak will get the ball on Sunday. The sophomore right-hander is 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA.
