Colonels Make Final OVC Road Trip Of Regular Season

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky's baseball team will make its final Ohio Valley Conference road trip of the regular season this weekend to Southeast Missouri State University.
 
The Colonels are 12-12 in OVC play this season and sit in sixth place in the conference standings, four games out of first place.  The Redhawks are 9-15 against league teams and tied for eighth.  The top eight teams qualify for the OVC Tournament.
 
Game one of the series is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Friday.  Saturday's game two will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  The series finale is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Southeast Missouri leads the all-time series 46-34.
 
-  The Redhawks swept EKU last season in Richmond and have won 11 straight meetings between the two teams. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky is 26-22 overall.  The Colonels won two out of three at home against Tennessee Tech last weekend and have won three of their last four overall.
 
-  As a team, EKU is seventh in the nation in stolen bases (118) and 20th in scoring (7.7 runs per game).
 
-  Will Johnson leads the conference in stolen bases (25) and walks (47).  Nick Howie is second in the OVC with a .477 on-base percentage.  Ryland Kerr is second in the league in runs (53).
 
-  Catcher A.J. Lewis is hitting .444 with 11 runs and six RBIs in his last 10 games.  He also has a .556 slugging percentage and a .535 on-base percentage during that time.
 
-  Will Brian, a redshirt freshman left-hander, will make his first weekend start of the season on Friday.  He is 0-1 with a5.60 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 17 and two-thirds innings.  The game two starter will be freshman righty Jacob Ferris, who is 4-4 with a 6.08 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 50 and one-thirds innings.  Brennan Kelly, a junior left-hander who is 3-4 with a 4.95 ERA, will start Sunday.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Southeast Missouri is 22-27 this season.  
 
-  The Redhawks won two of three at Belmont last weekend.
 
-  SEMO has hit only 17 home runs this season.  Only two players have hit more than two – Hunter Southerland (4) and Austin Blazevic (3).
 
-  Tyler Wilber leads the team with a .378 average and a team-best 38 RBIs.  Connor Basler leads SEMO with 41 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.
 
-  Southeast will start three left-handers in the series.  Junior Dylan Dodd gets the nod in game one.  He is 4-5 this season with a 5.10 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 65 and one-third innings.  Senior Austin Sachse, who is 5-5 with a 6.45 ERA, will start game two.  The series finale goes to freshman Noah Niznik, who is 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA.
