BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University senior JP Ferraro has been named the OVC Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
 
The initial OVC Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week cover meets dating all the way back to December.
 
Ferraro won the 400 meters at Kentucky's Jingle Bells Open on December 6 at Nutter Field House.
 
His time of 49.49 is currently the fastest in the conference.
 
This is Ferraro's first career OVC Track Athlete of the Week honor. The native of Erlanger, Kentucky has helped the Colonel men win two straight OVC Indoor Championships. He finished fourth in the 400 meters at last year's indoor championships, clocking a personal-best time of 48.16.
 
Ferraro and the Colonels return to action this weekend at Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational in Lexington.
