JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University's
Bradley Giblin,
Edna Chelulei, and
Morgan Kobylinski all earned ASUN weekly track and field honors on Wednesday, the league office announced.
Giblin was named the ASUN Male Track Performer of the Week, Chelulei was named the ASUN Female Track Performer of the Week, and Kobylinski earned ASUN Female Freshman of the Week honors.
Giblin ran a school-record 3:37.12 in the men's 1,500 meters at the Duke Twilight on Sunday evening in Durham. He finished second out of 95 competitors in the event.
That time ranks No. 1 in the ASUN, No. 11 in the NCAA East Region, and No. 16 in the NCAA.
Giblin – a native of Manchester, England – has also clocked the fastest 5,000 meters time in the ASUN this outdoor season – 13:41.41, which he ran at the Raleigh Relays in March.
He won the mile at the ASUN Indoor Championships in late February.
Chelulei cruised to victory in the women's 5,000 meters at the Duke Twilight on Sunday, beating a field of 43 competitors with a time of 15:36.70.
That time ranks No. 2 in the ASUN, No. 14 in the East Region, and No. 36 in the NCAA.
Chelulei currently owns the fastest 10,000 meters time in the ASUN this season, a school-record 31:33.57, which she ran at the Stanford Invitational on April 3.
Chelulei finished sixth in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in February, earning first team All-America honors.
Kobylinski finished fifth in the women's 5,000 meters at Duke, clocking a personal-best time of 16:08.42.
That is the second-fastest 5K time by a freshman in the conference this season, behind only her teammate
Brighter Jepchumba (15:28.09).
Kobylinski – a native of Beaver Dam, Kentucky – was an ASUN All-Freshman team member in cross country this past fall.
The track and field Colonels return to action May 14-16 at the ASUN Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
