EKU Baseball Will Host Louisville As Part Of 2021 Schedule

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will host perennial national power Louisville, in addition to Dayton, Kentucky State, Bellarmine and North Dakota State during the 2021 season.  The complete schedule was released today.
 
EKU will also play home Ohio Valley Conference series against Tennessee-Martin, Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech and Belmont.

The head coach Chris Prothro era will officially begin for Eastern Kentucky when the Colonels open the 2021 season at No. 34 ranked Georgia Tech on Feb. 19.  Prothro was chosen as the program's head coach in September.


Following a 3-game series at Georgia Tech to begin the season, EKU will play at No. 11 Louisville on Feb. 23.  The Colonels play at home for the first time when Presbyterian College visits Earle Combs Stadium for a 3-game series over two days on Feb. 27 and 28.
 
Eastern will play at Kentucky on March 2 before a 3-game series on March 5 and 6 at East Tennessee.  After a road game at Marshall on March 9, the Colonels will begin OVC play at Morehead State on March 12 and 13.
 
Louisville comes to Earle Combs Stadium on March 16, beginning a 5-game home stand.  Tennessee-Martin will be the first conference home series of the season on March 19 and 20.  Dayton visits Richmond on March 24.
 
Kentucky State will play in Richmond for a mid-week game on March 30.  A home OVC series against Austin Peay is set for April 1 and 2. 
 
Eastern Kentucky plays at Vanderbilt on April 13.  The last time the two teams met, the Colonels beat the 11th-ranked Commodores, 6-5, in March 14, 2018.
 
A home series against Jacksonville State is slated for April 16-17.  That weekend will be Alumni Weekend for the program with the annual Clint Seymour Golf Outing on April 18. 
 
Tennessee Tech comes to Richmond April 30 and May 1.  EKU will host Bellarmine May 12. 
 
The OVC schedule concludes with Belmont at home May 14-15.  The Colonels go on the road and face Western Kentucky on May 18.
 
The regular season concludes with a 3-day, 3-game non-conference series against North Dakota State May 20-22.  The OVC Tournament is scheduled for May 25-30. 
 
As with everything during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 baseball schedule is subject to change.
