RICHMOND, Ky. – Head coach
Samantha Williams and the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team are excited to announce the inaugural EKU Women's Basketball Shoot-A-Thon, taking place on October 24.
Â
The fundraiser will take place in Alumni Coliseum from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and feature many familiar faces surrounding the athletics department and women's basketball program, including Coach Williams, Director of Athletics
Matt Roan, and men's basketball head coach
A.W. Hamilton.
Â
The Shoot-A-Thon is a great way for fans to see the players and coaches in action. Each shooter will attempt 100 free throws and two half-court shots. Fans will select a shooter to sponsor, and pledge a donation based on their made shots.
Â
For example, a donor may choose to sponsor a shooter $0.50 per made shot prior to the Shoot-A-Thon. If that shooter makes 85 free throws that day, the donation will total to $42.50 (0.50 x 85). Donors may also pledge any amount to the half-court shot bonus. Shoot-A-Thon donations will also count as Fastbreak Club memberships, as long as the final donations total over $10.
Â
All players on the 2020-21 roster will shoot in this event, as well as
Samantha Williams,
Matt Roan, and AW Hamilton.
Â
On October 24, fans are invited to cheer on the shooters, either virtually or in-person at Alumni Coliseum. Safe physical distancing guidelines will be in place for the event, and masks will be required.
