RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team will open the 2021-22 indoor season at the Cardinal Classic on Saturday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville.
The meet will get underway with the women's high jump at 1 p.m. ET. Track events start around 2:20 p.m. Action should conclude around 6 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relays.
Competing teams include EKU, Louisville, Kentucky, Campbellsville and the University of the Cumberlands.
The Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center opened last February. The 24-acre, multi-sport complex located in Louisville's Russell neighborhood, features 90,000 square-feet of floor space with a 4,000 seat, 200-meter banked indoor track and competition areas for all jump, vaults and throws and a 400-meter outdoor track.
This is the first season the EKU track and field team will be competing in the ASUN conference.
Following Saturday's opener, the Colonels will have the rest of the holidays off before returning to action January 14-15 at the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington.
