RICHMOND, Ky. – Infielder Daniel Harris IV was chosen to the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award 2021 Watch List, presented by SR Bats, the organization recently announced.

In December, Harris was picked as a second team Pre-Season All-American by Collegiate Baseball.  Earlier this month, Harris was picked by D1Baseball.com as the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year.  He was also selected by OVC coaches and communications directors to the Preseason All-OVC Team.

The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all NCAA Division I baseball programs in the country.  The BBCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.  This year's watch list consists of 48 players representing 17 conferences around the country.

Harris, a 5-foot-11, 178-pound junior, led the OVC and was ninth in the nation with a.460 batting average last season.  He hit two home runs, had 16 RBIs and scored 16 runs, while posting a .680 slugging percentage and a .541 on-base percentage.  He also had five stolen bases.

The Stone Mountain, Georgia native tied for first in the OVC in on-base percentage, was eighth in slugging and eighth in runs scored.  He ranked 25th in the NCAA in on-base percentage and 41st in hits per game (1.77).

Last season, Harris was chosen by D1Baseball.com as the 25th-best second baseman in the country.  D1Baseball.com also picked Harris as the Breakout Hitter in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2020.

The 2021 season is scheduled to begin for the Colonels with a 3-game series at Georgia Tech Feb. 19-21.  Fans can request season ticket information at EKUSports.com.

The BBCSA originally started out in 2017 as an honor going to the top college hitter in Texas.  In 2019, the BBCSA expanded becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.  Last year, the BBCSA became a national award; however, no winner was announced due to the COVID-19 virus which cut the college baseball season short.

The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.  Texas Tech's Hunter Hargrove won the initial BBCSA in 2017.  Dallas Baptist's Devlin Granberg took home the honor in 2018 with Texas Tech's Josh Jung winning the award in 2019.
