Colonels Face Wildcats Tuesday In Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will face the University of Kentucky on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.
 
The game will begin at 4 p.m. and air live on the SEC Network Plus.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  UK leads the series 43-30-1. 
 
-  The last time the two teams met was on Feb. 26, 2019 in the first official game at Kentucky Proud Park.  The Wildcats won 7-3. 
 
-  Former EKU second baseman Ryland Kerr sent the first-ever pitch at Kentucky Proud Park into left field for a hit. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (2-4) began the 2021 season with four straight games against teams ranked among the top-15 in the nation.  On Saturday the Colonels split a doubleheader at home against Presbyterian, winning the second game 5-3.  Game three of the series scheduled for Sunday was rained out.
 
-  Second baseman Daniel Harris IV hit his first home run of the season in game one against Presbyterian on Saturday.  His three-run shot came in the second inning.
 
-  Redshirt sophomore closer Wil Brian made two relief appearances in the first five days of the season – at No. 15 Georgia Tech and at No. 4 Louisville.  He pitched three innings combined in the two games without allowing a hit or a run and earned the save in EKU's win at Georgia Tech.  He has now tossed five innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out seven and picking up two saves.
 
-  Freshman Bryce Travis has settled into the role of set-up man for Brian.  In his last two appearances, including an inning at No. 4 Louisville, the Richmond native has pitched two scoreless innings with two strike outs, no hits and no walks.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky's 9-6 win at No. 15 Georgia Tech (Feb. 20, 2021) was the program's sixth victory against a top-30 team since the start of the 2016 season.
 
-  Left-hander Jake Lewis will start on the mound after being scheduled to start Sunday's game against PC.  The junior tossed four and two-thirds innings at No. 15 Georgia Tech, allowing three runs on four hits.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Kentucky is 4-0 this season after posting a win over Miami (Ohio) and a three-game sweep of Milwaukee.  The Wildcats out-scored Milwaukee 23-5.  
 
-  Third baseman Reuben Church leads the team with a .600 average (6-for-10), five runs and five RBIs.  Four of his six hits have been doubles and one was a home run.  Outfielder Cam Hill is batting .385 with three runs and three RBIs.  
 
-  Five UK relievers have combined for six appearances and 10 and two-thirds innings this season without allowing a run.
 
-  Freshman Ryan Hagenow is scheduled to get the ball for UK.  The righty, who is making his second start of the season, is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA.  He has six strike outs and no walks in four innings.
