JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. –
The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team's stretch of seven straight road games continues this weekend at East Tennessee State University.

Friday's series opener is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.  Saturday's doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m.  Both games on Saturday will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series 50-32-1.

-  The two teams last met during the 2018 season, splitting a pair of midweek games.  Each team won on their home field.  The Colonels won the second meeting 9-4 in Richmond on April 10.

-  Five current EKU players have faced East Tennessee.  Daniel Harris IV hit .286 with a run and three RBIs in two games against the Buccaneers.  Jaxson Blair posted a 2.25 ERA in two appearances, allowing one run and striking out four in four innings.

THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (2-5) is coming off a 6-3 loss at Kentucky on Tuesday.  The Colonels have wins this season over No. 15 Georgia Tech and Presbyterian.  Three of the team's losses were to No. 15 Tech and No. 4 Louisville.

-  Freshman lefty Bryce Travis has made three straight appearances without allowing a run and giving up just one hit over three total innings.  Two of those trips to the mound came against No. 4 Louisville and Kentucky.

-  Redshirt sophomore closer Wil Brian made two relief appearances in the first five days of the season – at No. 15 Georgia Tech and at No. 4 Louisville.  He pitched three innings combined in the two games without allowing a hit or a run and earned the save in EKU's win at Georgia Tech.  He has now tossed five innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out seven and picking up two saves.

-  Eastern Kentucky's 9-6 win at No. 15 Georgia Tech (Feb. 20, 2021) was the program's sixth victory against a top-30 team since the start of the 2016 season.

-  A change in the weekend rotation has senior Brennan Kelly getting the start in Friday's series opener.  The lefty is 1-1 this season with a 6.48 ERA.  He pitched an inning of scoreless relief on Tuesday at Kentucky.  Junior left-hander Jake Lewis will get the ball for game two.  He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA.  Junior Louis Davenport III is coming off a quality start against Presbyterian and will start the final game of the series at East Tennessee.  He is 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA and nine strike outs in nine innings.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
