EKU Baseball Hosts Marshall On Tuesday

Game Notes

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will play Marshall on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series 37-24. 
 
-  The teams last met on March 28, 2017 in Huntington, West Virginia.  The Colonels earned a 6-3 victory. 
 
-  Former EKU outfielder Daniel McFarland went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.  He hit a 2-run home run in the fifth inning. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (3-7) finished off a three-game series at East Tennessee with a 9-7 victory in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.  The Colonels dropped the first two games by one run each.
 
-  EKU is 57-32 all-time at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
-  After hitting two home runs through their first nine games of the season, the Colonels smacked three dingers in game three at East Tennessee.
 
Cam Ridley hit .571 with two runs scored and three RBIs in four games last week.  He had a .647 on-base percentage.  The outfielder hit safely in all four games and had three multi-hit performances.
 
-  Freshman left-hander Bryce Travis will make his first career start on the mound.  The Richmond native is 0-0 with a 3.52 ERA in six relief appearances this season.  He has allowed one run on three hits, walked two and struck out 11 in seven and two-thirds innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Marshall enters the game at 1-2 after starting their season this past weekend with a three-game series at home against Morehead State.  The Thundering Herd took the opener 3-1 before falling 13-10 and 6-2.  
 
-  Shortstop Geordon Blanton and center fielder Luke Edwards lead the team with a .500 batting average.  Blanton has four RBIs and a run scored.  Catcher Ryan Leitch is hitting .462 with two home runs and four RBIs.  
 
-  Marshall used 11 different relievers in its season-opening series.  Seven allowed at least one run.
 
-  Freshman right-hander Chad Heiner will make his first appearance of the season and start for Marshall.
