RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will host Austin Peay for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series starting Friday.
 
The series opener will begin at 6 p.m.  Saturday's doubleheader will start at 12 p.m.  Friday's game will air on ESPN+.  
The doubleheader on Saturday will air on ESPN3.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Austin Peay leads the series between the teams 52-51. 
 
-  The last meeting between the two squads came in the 2019 OVC Tournament in Marion, Illinois.  The Governors won 9-7.  The last regular season series was April 5-6, 2019.  The Colonels won two of three.

Daniel Harris IV has played eight games against Austin Peay, hitting .406 with eight runs, one home run and five RBIs.  In four career games against APSU, 
Logan Thomason is hitting .417 with four runs, one home run and four RBIs. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (8-15, 3-6 OVC) suffered a three-game sweep at Southern Illinois Edwardsville this past weekend.

Kendal Ewell (.429, two runs, three RBIs), Harris (.409, one HR, four RBIs, six runs) and 
Caleb Upshaw (.409, three HR, seven RBIs, seven runs) are hot over the last five games.

Brandon Thomas made two relief appearances last week and did not allow a run in three innings.
 
-  After SIUE scored five runs and made just one out in the bottom of the first inning of the series opener, 
Jacob Abbott came on to pitch and immediately got a double play to end the inning.  He then allowed just one run over the next six innings.
 
-  Junior 
Louis Davenport III will start the opening game of the series.  He is 2-1 with a 6.94 ERA and 38 strike outs in 23 and one-third innings.  Junior left-hander 
Jake Lewis will get the ball for game two.  He is 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA.  Redshirt junior right-hander 
Darren Williams will start the final game.  He is 0-5 this season with a 7.57 ERA.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Austin Peay is 7-15 overall and 4-5 in OVC play.  The Governors are coming off a series victory against Belmont over the weekend, and a midweek loss at Lipscomb on Tuesday.  APSU lost its other two conference series this season to Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri.  
 
-  Center fielder Garrett Spain leads the team with a .319 batting average and 15 RBIs.  He also has 13 runs scored and three home runs this season.
 
-  Kyle Nunn has made a team-high 10 relief appearances this season.  He is 0-0 with a 3.46 ERA.  In 13 innings he has walked eight and struck out five.  
 
-  A pair of right-handers will start the first two games of the series for Austin Peay.  Luke Brown gets the ball in Friday's opener.  He is 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in six appearances and four starts this season.  The redshirt sophomore has struck out 18 and walked 12 in 24 innings.  Nolan O'Shoney is scheduled to start game two.  He is 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA, having made seven appearances and two starts.  The freshman has struck out 15 and walked five in 16 innings of work.  The APSU starter for the third game has not been determined.
