RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams will split between four meets this weekend.
A majority of the team will compete at the Kentucky Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Lexington. Field events are scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and track events from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday. Field events are slated from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, with track events set to go from noon to 4 p.m.
Four sprinters – sophomore
Quantasia Perry and freshmen
Emily Roesser,
Christian "Joy" Scott and
Kayla Smith – will travel to Jacksonville, Florida for the UNF Invitational on Friday. The four will team up for the women's 4x100 meter relay at 1:55 p.m. and then all run in the 100-meter dash around 5 p.m.
Two Colonels –
Lou Trois (women's 1,500 meters) and
Laura Taborda (women's 3,000-meter steeplechase) – will race at the WVU Mountaineer Twilight on Saturday night in Morgantown. The distance events start on a rolling schedule at 7 p.m. and should wrap up around 9 p.m.
Three EKU men –
Ahmed Jaziri,
Pedro García-Palencia and
Nikodem Dworczak – will race in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Trials of Miles on Saturday in Kansas City. Dworczak will go at 4:42 p.m. ET, Garcia-Palencia at 9:16 p.m. ET and Jaziri at 10:26 p.m. ET.
The track and field Colonels have next weekend off before heading to the OVC Championships May 13-15 in Charleston, Illinois.
