EUGENE, Ore. – Eastern Kentucky University's
Edna Chelulei finished seventh in the women's 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday evening at Hayward Field.
The sophomore from Uasin Gishu County, Kenya ran an outdoor personal-best time of 15:18.21 to take seventh and earn first team All-America honors.
Chelulei is now a three-time All-American during her EKU career. She was a second team All-American in the outdoor 10,000 meters last year (12
th) and a first team All-American in the indoor 5,000 meters this year (sixth).
EKU wrapped up the NCAA Outdoor Championships with two first team All-Americans – Chelulei and
Kristian Imroth (third in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase) – two second team All-Americans –
Miguel Baidal (ninth in the men's 10,000 meters) and
Brighter Jepchumba (16
th in the women's 10,000 meters) – and an honorable mention All-American –
Taha Er Raouy (22
nd in the men's 5,000 meters).
Chelulei scored two points with her seventh-place finish, good enough to lead the EKU woman to a 63
rd place finish in the NCAA.
Imroth's six points in the steeplechase gave the EKU men a 37
th place finish in the NCAA.
