RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's track and field team posted a top-40 national finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last week in Eugene, Oregon.
The Colonels scored six points to finish tied for 37
th in the NCAA with Kansas, Virginia Tech, and Cal Poly.
The EKU men finished ahead of such Power 5 schools as Mississippi State, Florida State, Kentucky, Villanova, Wisconsin, Baylor, Iowa State, Arizona and UCLA.
Kristian Imroth took bronze in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing third in a time of 8:20.91 to earn first team All-America honors.
Miguel Baidal earned second team All-America honors with a ninth place finish in the men's 10,000 meters.
Taha Er Raouy finished 22
nd in the men's 5,000 meters.
The EKU women's team also scored points at the NCAA Championships, finishing tied for 63
rd with Michigan, Cal Poly, Indiana State, and Kennesaw State.
Edna Chelulei scored two points for the Colonels by finishing seventh in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:18.21. She was named a first team All-American.
Brighter Jepchumba was a second team All-American after placing 16
th in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 32:48.21.
