KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky lost 7-1 at No. 2 Tennessee on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

It was the third fewest runs scored by the Vols this season.  Only Texas and East Tennessee held the UT offense to fewer runs.  Six of Tennessee's runs came in the first two innings.  After those first two innings, the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie.  Five EKU relievers combined to hold Tennessee scoreless over the final four innings, limiting the Vols to one hit and striking out six.

The Colonels (11-7) will play their first-ever ASUN Conference series this weekend at North Alabama.  The three-game set begins with game one on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.

Eastern Kentucky's next home game is March 22 against Northern Kentucky.  Baseball tickets can be purchased at EKUSports.com/2022BaseballTix or call 844-3-GOBIGE.

After Isaac Milburn struck out the first two UT batters of the game, the Vols started a two-out rally in the bottom of the first.  Jordan Beck singled through the left side before Trey Lipscomb sent a 1-0 pitch over the wall in right for a 2-run home run.  Three batters later, with the bases loaded, Cortland Lawson struck out swinging to end the inning.

The Vols (16-1) loaded the bases again in the second, this time with one out, and Lipscomb deposited a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left center to make it 6-0.

Conner Davis broke up the no-hitter and shutout in the top of the fourth when he hit a solo home run, on a 3-2 pitch, over the wall in right.  It was his first of the season.

Davis ended the night 1-for-2 with a walk, a run and an RBI.

Lipscomb finished 2-for-5 with two runs and six RBIs for Tennessee.
