EKU And Morehead State Meet Tuesday In Richmond

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Rivals Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State will meet for a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.  For Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer, EKU and the Eagles will wear yellow shoelaces in support of pediatric cancer awareness.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series 121-105-1.  The Colonels have won two straight over the Eagles, but the teams have split the last six meetings.  EKU won 13-4 in a non-conference meeting on April 20, 2021.
 
-  Kendal Ewell hit a home run, scored three times and drove in two during the last game against Morehead State.  Charlie Ludwick went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.  Will King was 2-for-3 with a run and three driven in.  Jordan Fox earned the win after pitching one and one-third innings of hitless relief.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 26-13 overall and 12-6 in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels have won five in a row.

-  Eastern Kentucky is 7-0 against teams from Kentucky this season, including wins over Western Kentucky and UK.
 
-  In four wins last week, the Colonels combined for a .327 team batting average and hit 11 home runs.
 
-  Kendal Ewell was chosen as the ASUN Player of the Week and as a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week after hitting .722 with five home runs, 10 RBIs and a 1.611 slugging percentage last week.
 
-  Cameron Kalandros hasn't allowed a run in his last four relief appearances, a stretch of seven and two-thirds innings.  He has allowed three hits, hasn't walked a batter and has struck out six.  He earned his first save of the season on Friday.
 
-  Freshman Isaac Milburn will start on the mound.  Milburn, a left-hander, is 1-2 with a 5.08 ERA.  In his last start, the Lexington native pitched three innings against Xavier, allowing one run on two hits.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Morehead State sits at 16-22 overall and 5-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference.  The Eagles are 2-6 in their last eight games, including being swept at Southeast Missouri this past weekend.  MSU lost two of the games in extra innings.
 
-  Jackson Feltner is the team's top hitter and run producer.  He leads the squad in average (.373), RBIs (34) and is tied for the team-high in home runs (10).
 
-  Five Eagles are batting .300 or higher.  As a team, Morehead State has a .288 batting average.
 
-  John Bakke has been the go-to arm out of the bullpen.  He has made 20 appearances and has a team-best seven saves.  In 34 innings, he has struck out 48 and pitched to a 2.65 ERA.
 
-  Trevor Callahan, a freshman right-hander, will get the start for the Eagles.  He is 1-3 with a 10.38 ERA over 10 appearances this season.
