DURHAM, N.C. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams will compete at the Duke Invitational this Thursday through Saturday at Morris Williams Stadium.
Portions of the meet will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. The stream will begin on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
The meet features a large field, including athletes from Appalachian State, Athletic Lab TC (men only), Barton College, Blackheath & Bromley/GB (men only), Boston North Track Club (men only), Boston University, Central Michigan, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, The Citadel (men only), College of Charleston, Columbia International, Duke, East Carolina, EKU, Elite Track and Field Training (women only), Elon, Garden State Track Club – TS (men only), Georgia Southern (women only), Harvard, High Point, Michigan, Montreat (men only), Mount Olive, NC Central, NC State, Norfolk State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Radford, Raleigh Distance Project (women only), Richmond, Shawnee State (women only), Shore A.C. (men only), Suffolk (men only), Tracksmith (women only), Truett-McConnell, UNCW, VCU, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Carolina.
Action gets underway on Thursday with the women's heptathlon at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The meet resumes on Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET. Friday will primarily feature field events and distance races on the track.
Saturday gets underway at 9:30 a.m. ET, as well. Saturday is highlighted by more field events and sprint races on the track.
EKU has produced the last two ASUN Female Track Athletes of the Week.
Laura Taborda won the award two weeks ago after running a school-record time of 10:12.53 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. That time enters the week ranked No. 11 in the country.
Quantasia Perry is the reigning ASUN Female Track Athlete of the Week. Perry helped lead the EKU women to victory in the 4x100 meter relay at the Hilltopper Relays last Saturday. The Colonels clocked an ASUN-leading time of 45.81, which ranks No. 5 all-time at EKU. Perry followed that up by winning the 100 meters at the meet with a time of 11.77.
Madison Fleming was named the ASUN Female Freshman of the Week on Wednesday. She was a member of EKU's winning 4x100 team last Saturday, and she also ran 14.36 in the 100-meter hurdles. That time currently ranks No. 3 in the ASUN.
The EKU women's squad is currently ranked No. 20 in the NCAA Southeast Region, according to the latest USTFCCCA poll.
Following this week's Duke Invitational, the Colonels return to action April 22-23 at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia.
