RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams head to Jacksonville, Florida this week for the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
The championships will take place Thursday, May 14 to Saturday, May 16 at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Championship Saturday will air on ESPN+.
The EKU women finished third at last year's outdoor championships, their best conference finish since joining the ASUN in 2021. The EKU men are looking to bounce back from a fifth place finish in 2025.
Several Colonels enter the meet ranked in the top-five in the conference in events.
Bradley Giblin owns the fastest times in the ASUN in both the men's 1,500 meters (school-record 3:37.12) and the men's 5,000 meters (13:41.41). Giblin won the mile at the ASUN Indoor Championships in February. He is scheduled to race in the 5,000 meters and 800 meters this week in Jacksonville.
Cross country All-American
Taha Er Raouy is ranked No. 2 in the conference in the men's 1,500 meters (3:39.48) and 5,000 meters (13:42.54). Er Raouy is a three-time ASUN track gold medalist (2024 indoor mile, 2024 outdoor 1,500 meters, 2026 indoor 3,000 meters) and a two-time ASUN individual cross country champion. He will race the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters this week.
Steeplechase All-American
Kristian Imroth enters the conference meet ranked No. 1 in the men's steeplechase (8:33.32) and No. 5 in the 1,500 meters (3:41.02.). Imroth won the ASUN steeplechase title in 2024 and was the conference's indoor mile champion in 2025. He is slated to race the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters in Jacksonville.
Mario Priego Montero is No. 3 in the conference in the 10,000 meters (29:24.02), but will make his 1,500 meters debut this week.
Tomas Vega (No. 4 / 9:08.35) and
German Vega (No. 5 / 9:16.29) will vie for a podium spot in the men's steeplechase.
Miguel Baidal – the reigning ASUN champion in the indoor 5,000 meters – currently ranks No. 1 in the conference in the men's 10,000 meters (28:33.38) and No. 4 in the 5,000 meters (13:50.10). He will race the 5,000 meters this week.
Mohammed Jouhari (No. 2 in the 10,000 meters / 29:04.55) will also be in the 5K podium conversation this week.
Griffin Staude (No. 4 / 29:40.56) will look to earn a podium spot in the 10,000 meters on Thursday night.
In the men's throws,
Matthew See enters the week ranked No. 2 in the ASUN in the shot put with a school-record throw of 17.66 meters. See is a two-time ASUN silver medalist in the indoor shot put.
Newcomer
Alex Camarca owns the second-best javelin throw in the conference at 60.71 meters.
William Kissick (No. 3 in the discus / 49.04 meters),
Daroyce Flemons (No. 4 in the hammer / 52.21 meters) and
JJ Love (No. 5 in the hammer / 51.73 meters) will also look to medal in the throws events this week.
See, Love, Kissick and Camarca will also team up to run the 4x100 meter relay.
All-American
Edna Chelulei leads the EKU women into this week's conference meet.
Chelulei is ranked No. 1 in league in the 10,000 meters with a school-record time of 31:33.57. She also ranks No. 2 in the conference in the 5,000 meters (15:36.70).
Chelulei finished sixth in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in February. She ran 15:05.16 in the 5,000 meters at the Husky Classic during the indoor season.
Chelulei ran away from the field to win the 5,000 meters at last year's ASUN Outdoor Championships. The sophomore is schedule to race the 5,000 meters and 1,500 meters at this week's championship meet.
Freshman
Brighter Jepchumba will also look to make noise in the distance events this week. Jepchumba owns the No. 1 5,000 meters time in the conference (outdoor school-record 15:28.09) and the No. 2 10,000 meters time in the conference (32.40.60). She is the reigning ASUN indoor champion at 5,000 meters.
Jepchumba is slated to race the 5,000 meter final on Saturday.
Fellow freshman
Morgan Kobylinski comes into the week ranked No. 4 in the conference in the 5,000 meters (16:08.42). The Beaver Dam, Kentucky native will also race the 5,000 meter final on Saturday.
Khadija Ennasri and
Metrine Serem could also factor into multiple podiums this week. Ennasri owns the No. 1 time in the women's steeplechase (10:23.68) and is ranked No. 3 in the conference in the 1,500 meters (4:23.05) and No. 5 in the 800 meters (2:09.87). Ennasri is a two-time ASUN silver medalist in the steeplechase. She will race the steeplechase final on Friday evening.
Serem is the top-ranked 1,500 meters run in the conference at 4:17.69. She has also clocked the second-fastest 800 meters time in the ASUN at 2:08.45. Serem had a productive ASUN Indoor Championship meet in February, taking silver in the mile and bronze in the 800 meters.
She is schedule to race the 800 meters and 5,000 meters this week.
On the throws side,
Lariah Wooden is ranked No. 2 in the conference in the shot put at 14.92 meters.
Amya Livingston is right behind her at No. 3 with a throw of 14.58 meters. Wooden is a two-time ASUN champion in the indoor shot put. She claimed silver at last year's ASUN Outdoor Championships.
Kristan Simmons (No. 4 in the discus / 43.15 meters) and
Senda Garma (No. 4 in the hammer / 55.27 meters) will also vie for podium spots this week.
Following the ASUN Outdoor Championships, qualified athletes will compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington May 27-30.
