Colonels Play At No. 7 Louisville On Tuesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will play its final non-conference regular season game on Tuesday at No. 7 Louisville.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will air live on the ACC Network Extra.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Louisville leads the all-time series 57-34.
 
-  The last time the two teams met, five EKU relief pitchers combined to pitch the final six and two-thirds innings without allowing a hit and the Colonels scored three runs in the seventh to beat No. 7 Louisville, 6-3, on March 16, 2021.
 
-  Max Williams went 2-for-4 with a run scored in that game.  Jordan Fox and Bryce Travis each pitched two hitless innings.  Will Brian got the save with a perfect ninth inning.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 33-17 overall and 18-9 in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels lost two of three over the weekend against Lipscomb, but still lead the West Division by one game.

-  Eastern Kentucky's 33 wins are the most for the program since the 2004 team won 34.
 
-  Kendal Ewell has reached base in 36 straight games, the longest streak by a Colonel since Alex Holderbach's 39-game streak in 2018.
 
-  In his last 10 games, Will King is hitting .304 with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and five runs scored.
 
-  The Colonels are first in the ASUN and 23rd in the NCAA in fielding percentage (.978).  The program record, set last season, is 97.2 percent.
 
-  The EKU pitching staff is fourth in the ASUN in strikeouts (456), fourth in runs allowed (276) and fourth in hits allowed (441).
 
-  Freshman Isaac Milburn will get the start on Tuesday.  He is 2-3 with a 5.20 ERA in 15 appearances.  The left-hander has struck out 39 in 45 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Louisville is 35-15-1 overall and has a 16-10-1 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference.  The Cardinals lost two of three at No. 3 Virginia Tech over the weekend.
 
-  In an 8-1 series-opening victory against Virginia Tech, right fielder Isaac Humphrey went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
 
-  Catcher Jack Payton leads the team with a .348 average to go along with 50 runs scored and 42 RBIs.
 
-  Christian Knapczyk has scored a team-best 64 runs while hitting .335.  Shortstop Ben Metzinger has 15 home runs, a team-high 54 RBIs and a .291 average.
 
-  Michael Prosecky is the team's top reliever.  He is 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA and a team-best nine saves.  In 28 innings he has struck out 36 batters.

-  Ben Wiegman, a sophomore right-hander, will start for the Cardinals.  Wiegman has made 12 appearances and one start.  He is 3-0 with a 6.57 ERA and eight strikeouts over 12 and one-third innings.
